Dosage Form: Powder for injection, used in veterinary medicine.

Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Antiparasitic, antiprotozoal agent

Target Species: Cattle, sheep, goats, camels, horses, dogs.

Composition:

  • Active Ingredient: Diminazene diaceturate.

  • Excipients: Phenazone; Vitamin B12; Vitamin B6; others.

Packaging: 2.36 g powder in orange glass vial.

Pharmacological Properties:

  • Diminazene diaceturate is an antiprotozoal agent effective against blood parasites such as Babesia bovis, Babesia ovis, Babesia caballi, Babesia equi, Babesia canis, Trypanosoma congolense, Trypanosoma vivax, Trypanosoma brucei, and Theileria annulata. Its mechanism of action is based on inhibiting aerobic glycolysis and DNA synthesis in pathogenic protozoa.

  • Phenazone (antipyrine) stabilizes diminazene and possesses analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties, reducing the duration of fever.

  • Vitamins B6 and B12 support the normal functioning of hematopoietic organs and the nervous system.

Indications:
Used for the treatment and prevention of blood parasitic diseases in cattle, sheep, goats, horses, camels, and dogs, including trypanosomiasis, piroplasmosis, babesiosis, hemosporidiosis, francaiellosis, theileriosis, equine nutalliosis, and mixed infections (piroplasmosis and francaiellosis).roqi.ge

Dosage and Administration:

  • Administered deeply intramuscularly, as a single dose.

  • Cattle, horses, sheep, goats:

    • Therapeutic: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight.

    • Prophylactic: 1 ml per 40 kg body weight.

    • In severe cases: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight.

    • If necessary, the therapeutic dose may be repeated after 24 hours.

  • For trypanosomiasis (nagana) caused by Trypanosoma brucei: Use double the therapeutic dose.

  • Dogs: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight.

Note: To avoid local irritation, do not inject more than 10 ml in one site.

Side Effects:

  • When used at recommended doses, no side effects are observed.

  • In dogs, it is recommended to administer an antihistamine parenterally before treatment.

Overdose:
In case of overdose, animals may exhibit nervous symptoms (bradycardia, increased respiration, anorexia, tremors). Symptomatic treatment should be administered (cardiotonics, antihistamines, sedatives, vitamins, microelements).

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation.

Withdrawal Period:

  • Meat: 21 days.

  • Milk: 3 days.

Storage Conditions:
Store in a dry, cool place protected from light at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
